Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. One form of prevention is to kill the vector in the form of Aedes aegypti is to use natural larvicides. One of the plants that have the potential as natural larvicides is guava leaf (Syzigium malacense L.) because it has active compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, and terpenoids. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of guava leaf extract as a larvicide on Aedes agypti larvae instar III and IV, to determine the highest mortality in larvae, and to determine the value of LC50 after 24 hours of observation. The research was conducted by percolation extraction method using 96% ethanol solvent and testing the effectiveness of guava leaf extract larvacide as Aedes aegypti larvicides. The extract of guava leaves was 166.12 grams with a yield of 22.14%. Guava leaf extract has effectiveness as a larvicide with a concentration of 1%, 2% and 3% with the highest mortality at a concentration of 3%, which is as much as 100%. The results of LC50 obtained a value of 2.305% and it can be said that guava leaf extract is toxic as a larvicide.
