Abstract

In 2020 the world was shocked by the COVID-19 pandemic. This disease is caused by infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The disease can also affect pregnant women and infants, both of whom are vulnerable populations. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, vaccination is needed. In this literature study the author will explain about the COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant and lactating women. The method used by the author is to browse articles through an online medical scientific database with a publication period between 2019 - 2021 using the keywords "pregnancy", "pregnant women", "lactation" and "COVID-19 Vaccine". The screening of scientific articles was carried out with inclusion criteria: publication date 2 year ago, in English, and in full text. The search results found that several studies related to the COVID-19 vaccine showed that both mRNA and vector vaccine were safe for pregnant women, the number of antibody titers in non-pregnant and pregnant individuals was the same, antibodies formed after vaccination could be detected in the umbilical cord and breast milk for breastfeeding mothers who are vaccinated. It is important for us to have a deeper understanding of the COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant and lactating women so healthy workers can do counseling for pregnant and lactating women. In the end as expected the vaccine distribution can be achieved and the pandemic will be ended soon. Keywords : pregnancy, pregnant women, lactation, COVID-19 Vaccine.
