Abstract

COVID-19 vaccination is one of the efforts to overcome the current COVID-19 pandemic. Low vaccination acceptance rates can inhibit the achievement of herd immunity. The purpose of this study is to find out the picture of public perception of the acceptance of COVID-19 vaccination in Pakong Kecmatan Pakong Pamekasan Village.

Cross-sectional study research design with the population of Pakong Subdistrict community aged 18-59 years. A large sample of 184 people was obtained by voluntary sampling technique. Data is collected online using google form. Data analysis using the chi-square test.

Vaccination admissions were 96.20% and 3.80% refused because they had a history of comorbid diseases. Significant associated variables with COVID-19 vaccination admissions are female sex (OR=1.62; 95% CI 0.26-11.32), age over 55 years (OR=3.42; 95% CI 0.44-26.59), college's last education (OR=11.41; 95% CI 1.32-529.13), high perception of COVID-19 infection vulnerability (OR=7.79; 95% CI 1.20-83.41), high perception of COVID-19 infection severity (OR=4.37, 95% CI 0.67-46.07), high perception of COVID-19 vaccination benefits (OR=7.79; 95% CI 1.20-83.41), and low perception of vaccination barriers (OR=5.73; 95% CI 0.10-64.08).

Female gender, over-55s of age, recent college education, perception of vulnerability, severity, high benefits, and low barriers were significantly associated with COVID-19 vaccination acceptance. There needs to be education with a focus on the benefits of vaccines and clarification of issues about vaccines so as to encourage the public to get the COVID-19 vaccination.
